while hiking a trail we found these huge tadpoles in a shallow pool. They were at least 4 inches long! Some with legs already. Made me think of the Jumping Frog of Calveras County.
We drive thru the Chandelier Tree. By the way, there are great old postcards of cars driving through this tree years ago.

Ken and the boys at another roadside attraction on the Redwood Highway -- Babe, the Blue Ox. I told the boys that this is the way I want them to remember me.
This California trip was terrific. We stayed in a cabin in the redwoods on the Smith River. We hiked the woods, combed the beachs, fished a little, and did some kayaking. The jet boat ride on the Rogue River in Oregon gave us a heck of a ride and views of eagles, otters, bears, salmon, and some great rapids.
